GROWING TOGETHER

The small moments
of sharing.

A turn with a favourite toy. A seat beside you. The chance to choose the next story. Sharing can begin very small.

By The Little Navigator · A short read

In The Joy of Sharing, Timmy has two coins and notices that another Navigator has none. His adventure gives us a simple place to begin a conversation, without turning kindness into a lesson.

Notice the moment.

When something is shared, name what happened in plain words: “You made space for me.” Or, “You let me have a turn.” Keep it about the action and the person it helped.

Share something of your own.

Let your child see an ordinary example. Offer a turn choosing the music. Make space at the table. Share a memory from your day.

Make room for a turn.

You might take turns choosing a book or adding something to a pretend picnic. Keep the invitation gentle. A favourite possession can feel very important to a little person.

A LITTLE QUESTION

What could we share today?

It does not have to be a thing. A story, a laugh, a turn or a little time can count, too.

Come back to the story.

Ask what Timmy noticed when he returned to school. Then leave space for your child’s own answer. There is no need to turn it into a test.
