READING TOGETHER
A little room
for a story.
Some days, the nicest plan is a small one. A comfortable spot. A book. A few minutes together.
By The Little Navigator · A short read
You do not need a perfect bedtime routine to enjoy a story. You can begin halfway through a busy afternoon, still wearing coats after a walk, or curled up on the sofa before dinner.
Let the pictures lead.
Before reading the words, have a look together. Notice a small detail. Ask what might happen next. If a page becomes a conversation, let it.
Read it your way.
Do the voices, or do not. Skip a sentence. Let your child turn the pages. There is no performance to get right, and no need to finish every time.
Make space for the favourite.
If the same book comes out again, that is the story for today. You might spot something you both missed last time.
TRY THIS TOGETHER
Choose one tiny detail.
Find something in a picture that neither of you has talked about before. Who left it there? Where might it go next?
Leave a little room at the end.
You could ask which part they liked. Or simply close the book and sit together for a moment. Sometimes that is the best ending of all.
